File I-130 and I-485 Online: An Illustrated Guide with ezgreen
Last updated October 1, 2026
ezgreen now supports fully online marriage green card filing for applicants in the United States. You submit all documents and pay directly on the USCIS website, without worrying about exposing your banking or other sensitive information. You also no longer need to print every form and document or worry about your packet getting lost in the mail. It saves time and effort and gives you peace of mind.
Let's take a look at the whole process.
Before starting the application, the sponsor (Sponsor / Petitioner) and the green card applicant (Applicant / Beneficiary) need to register their own USCIS accounts.
The petitioner submits I-130 first. Then the applicant submits I-485 and the other applications they are filing with it.
1. Fill out your forms
We use one questionnaire to collect all the information needed for the forms you will submit, then automatically generate all the required forms. Information that appears on multiple forms is reused to save you from entering it again. During the process, the app also checks for errors and inconsistent answers.
2. Collect your documents
Using the information collected in the previous step, we automatically generate a document checklist for your case, including the documents needed for all your applications. Follow the instructions to collect everything on the list.
3. Submit I-130
Once all your information and documents are ready, you can submit I-130.
Go to the USCIS website → File a Form Online → Select I-130 → Choose a filing method.
Because the USCIS website supports filling out I-130 online (I-485 currently only supports upload), we recommend filling it out online.
We support both methods. The form structure matches the USCIS website, so you can follow along to enter your answers and upload your documents.
Finally, pay and submit on the USCIS website. After a successful submission, you will receive I-797C (Notice of Action) and can proceed with filing I-485 without waiting for I-130 to be approved.
4. Submit I-485
The green card applicant then submits through their own USCIS account. Select I-485, then choose whether to file other forms at the same time (we support I-131 and I-765).
Are you self-petitioning? For marriage green cards, usually No

Follow the prompts to upload the generated forms. Note that all three forms need to be printed, signed and scanned before submission. ezgreen includes detailed steps.
As with I-130, follow each matching category to upload your evidence.
Finally, pay the fees on the USCIS website and submit.
