ezgreen Now Supports I-751: Removal of Conditions, Documents, and Filing Steps

ezgreen now supports Form I-751 for spouses filing a joint petition to remove conditions on permanent residence. The bilingual workflow starts with an eligibility quiz, then guides you through the form, supporting documents, PDF preparation, and either online or mail submission. Eligible children included in the same petition can be added to the case.

This release supports the joint-spouse basis in Part 3, Item 1.a. Divorce waivers, abuse waivers, other individual filing grounds, and a child's separate petition with a stepparent are outside the current guided workflow. The quiz helps identify those situations before you start preparing a joint-spouse case.

What is Form I-751, and who needs it?

Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, is for people who obtained conditional permanent residence through marriage. It is the removal-of-conditions step for a two-year conditional green card. It is separate from the initial marriage green card application, and should not be confused with renewing an ordinary ten-year card. Source: USCIS Form I-751

For a joint petition with your spouse, USCIS requires filing during the 90 days immediately before conditional residence expires. Filing too early can lead to rejection. Use the expiration date on your own card and the USCIS filing calculator, rather than treating three calendar months as exactly 90 days.

You can collect records before the filing window opens. If your card has already expired, or you cannot file jointly with your spouse, get advice on the appropriate filing basis and timing. Those cases should not be forced through the standard joint-spouse workflow.

How the I-751 workflow works in ezgreen

1. Check the filing basis and dates

The opening quiz asks about the conditional card, filing basis, dates, and screening issues. It identifies the filing window and refers cases outside the supported workflow for attorney guidance. A software screening result describes the product's scope; it is not a USCIS decision about your legal eligibility.

2. Fill in the petitioner, spouse, and family information

Enter names and identifying details as they appear in your records. The form flow collects the petitioner's information, spouse information, children, addresses, and other applicable answers. If you have lived elsewhere since becoming a permanent resident, the address-history section collects the locations and dates for the additional information requested by I-751.

Generated additional information uses the space in Part 11 first, then adds separate continuation pages when necessary. Review those pages along with the main form, especially names, A-Numbers, dates, and the referenced Part and Item numbers.

3. Collect evidence of the marriage

The document checklist includes copies of the front and back of your conditional green card and evidence that the marriage was entered into in good faith. USCIS asks for records covering the relationship from the marriage to the present, not just documents from the week you file. Depending on your circumstances, useful records may include joint housing records, bank or financial records, insurance, and birth certificates of children born during the marriage. 4. Choose online filing or mail submission

USCIS currently accepts I-751 online or by mail. ezgreen prepares your forms and instructions; you submit the petition to USCIS yourself. It does not transmit a case automatically when you finish the questions. Source: USCIS filing options

The paper Organize section uses the same numbered enclosure list as the generated cover letter. Required evidence, completed optional items, and named custom items feed that list. Compare it with the documents you actually put in the envelope, and regenerate the letter after changing your answers or evidence.

The Mail section distinguishes USPS from FedEx, UPS, and DHL. Always check the official I-751 address chart before shipping. An address used for an earlier I-485 or N-400 filing may be different.

5. Review the signatures before submitting

Both spouses must complete the applicable portions of a joint petition. Part 7 covers the petitioner; Part 8 covers the spouse. The generated PDF still needs your review and the required signatures and dates. Source: I-751 instructions

For online PDF filing on your own behalf, USCIS permits your own signature through the prompts in your USCIS account. That does not sign for your spouse. The app instructs you to print the spouse's signature page, have it signed in ink, and scan it back into the completed PDF. Follow the same process for other required handwritten signatures that apply to your case, and keep the originals.

A typed name, a signature drawn in a PDF editor, or a pasted image is not the same as the electronic signature captured by the USCIS account. USCIS describes its accepted account-signing process in Step 11 of the PDF upload instructions.

6. Keep the submission record and read each notice

After filing, keep the confirmation or mailing record and a complete copy of what you submitted. The What's next section explains receipt notices, biometrics, and possible interview steps. Read your own receipt for the extension period and any conditions stated on it. A preparation checklist cannot predict when USCIS will decide your case.

Use USCIS case status and processing times with the information from your notices. Attend appointments or respond to requests according to the instructions USCIS sends you.

Can children be included in the same I-751?

A conditional resident child may be included if the child obtained that status on the same day as the parent or within 90 days afterward. Other children may need a separate petition. For an included child, prepare copies of both sides of the child's green card and complete the child's information in the petition. Part 3, Item 1.b is the separate joint-filing basis for a child filing with the parent's U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse. That separate-child route is not supported by ezgreen's current I-751 workflow.

What does I-751 preparation cost?

There are two separate charges to distinguish:

• USCIS filing fee: the general I-751 fee in the 09/09/26 edition of Form G-1055 is $700 online or $750 on paper. The schedule also lists exceptions and fee-waiver provisions. Check the current USCIS fee schedule before paying.
• ezgreen software license: I-751 Essential is $149 once, purchased separately from the marriage green card license. It does not include attorney review or the government filing fee. See current product pricing.

Common questions before you start

Can I prepare I-751 without an attorney?

USCIS provides the form and instructions for self-filing. ezgreen helps organize a supported joint-spouse case, but cannot choose a legal strategy for you. If there is a divorce, abuse, a missed filing deadline, removal proceedings, or criminal history, get case-specific advice before proceeding. Do I need to print anything if I file online?

You may still need to print pages for your spouse's and other required handwritten signatures, then scan those signed pages into the PDF. Your own USCIS account signature does not replace another person's signature.

Does the September 18 I-485 update change my I-751 edition?

The two forms have separate edition rules. As checked on September 19, 2026, the I-751 page lists 04/01/24. The new 09/18/26 edition applies to I-485. Our September 18 I-485 update explains that announcement.
